Hunchbacked tarsus

It is a bony bump located on the middle part of the upper-inner. The hunchbacker tarsus tarse manifests itself essentially by a discomfort to the shoes’s wearing. It corresponds to an ossification of the joint located at the base of the 1st metatarsal bone, with an upstream bone named the 1st cuneiform.

An evaluation must include a profile x-ray exam. It can be supplemented by other examinations depending on the context (presence of bursitis (inflammation), analysis of bone and cartilage).

A standard medical treatment is initially prescribed: soles, fit of the shoes, infiltrations, local care if bursitis. In case of persistent discomfort, surgical treatment is offered either percutaneous or open-sky treatment, especially in the presence of bursitis.
